Snow snow snow needs to GO GO GO!

It finally happened! Woke up this morning to a winter wonderland of snow.

I can remember when snow used to really get me pleasantly excited. I'd love to be out there making snowmen, playing, toboganning and for the life I couldn't see why anybody would NOT love snow........

THEN

it happened! I woke up looked at the white stuff and went yuck! I feel that I'm being disloyal to Christmas but I think I've finally reached and age or stage where I have to say I'd be happy to welcome in the Christmas season with green grass.

Songs..........I'd Dreaming of a Green Christmas, All I want for Christmas is my green grass lawn, Silent night, holy night, all is green, all is bright....

Now works for me.

Am I getting old or do others share my passion for "no snow?"

That's bad news for us LLL :? I always reckon on getting your weather about 4 weeks later in the UK, so maybe a white Christmas for us.

No snow gets my vote nowdays, :) I love to see it and go walking in the woods and fields after it has been snowing, but! it has to be on my terms. :)
We have a steep climb to where I live and the access road is all uphill, beautiful in the good weather with amost a 360 degree vista, but once the snow falls ............ gridlock.

We do have grit bins, but the regular culprits will usually waste it by spreading it in bucket loads at the first little flurry instead of using it sparringly, it then stays empty when you need it the most. The fact that I dont need to go out to work helps, but there are still other commitments like family and shopping, otherwise I would just hibernate until Spring.

We tend to be quite fortunate in the South East and usually miss the worst of any snow.....And it can stay well away as far as I am concerned.

But right now we are enjoying sunny cloudless days with temperatures still 12 to 14 degrees. This morning on our walk around a nature reserve I only needed a shirt and gilet.......long may it last. :) At least it keeps the heating costs down. :)

Thought you would take the bait LLL :) :) :)

I hate snow the most when it thaws to that horrible slushy stuff, yuk! :( But at least it means it is on its way out.....

Most of all, snow makes me feel OLD. I can't quite tell when the first flurries of snow stopped being exciting and instead brought fear....fear of falling and breaking something, fear of frozen pipes, fear for my kids out driving in poor weather. So this is when I know I've crested the hill and started on the downward slope. Oh bugger this for a game of soldiers I think I'll go out and buy a toboggan!

@ Morgita - you bring me back. When I was a kid there was nothing more wonderful in the whole world than waking up to a world of white. Mind you I lived where it got cold, stayed cold and snow would actually hang about for months. I couldn't wait to get all bundled up and outside. Snow = ice skating = sleigh rides = snowmen = digging into great big drifts + ice forts

NOW when it snows I live in some fear that somebody around here driving without all season tires is going to smash into me or I'll get stuck going up a hill or I'll get stuck and slide down a hill or or or or.........I'm with ya M - gonna go get a hot cuppa and think about "when" (and think about that Grandad bragging about his weather! ;););) )

Well, today I woke at 7 to clear skies, no wind and did the animals.Came in for breakfast ( my orange juice and my ginger biscuits) showered, put the washing in and went out to inspect the village and the new road with Glory. As it rained a LOT when I was away the countryside is green again and the new road on a Sunday is soft and excellent for Glory to act like a lunatic - -back by lunchtime, shampooed Madams mane and plaited it , put her out on her rope. I ate salad (my garden has grown me lots of food) sat out in the sun and read (in my shorts, not a pretty sight ) played with the dogs and cats then got the washing in, did a few petitions, evening feeding as the sun went down, shut the house up and made cabbage and bean stew for dinner. I have never seen snow here, not for the last 20 year anyway and thats just fine with me . . :)

Nice to see you back safe and sound and that Glory is on top form, I bet she misses you when you go away. :)

Thankyou Horus, yes, this time Glory came home safely, somewhat noisily. Last time she started neighing as soon as the box turned into my track and she recognised home. As the ramp came down she leapt backwards, snapped her headcollar, and sprained her leg falling off the ramp. This time she had two ropes on and exited in a civilised manner and promptly gave a rodeo display as she was so happy - - me too as I really miss her - -

Was my post deleted for some reason? or? or? or? It didn't take cause I was in Canada? Just curious as I'd responded to Carrie's post something to the effect of - if temperatures ever reached 77 here I'm be out sunbathing starkers as would almost all my neighbours! We'd be stripping off to enjoy the rays! :):):)

Hmmm - must've been. I was in Canada and I was posting about how 77 is a dream temperature for everybody there and 77 would result in half the country being outside nude to soak up the rays! ;) Must've not taken...........ohhhhhh the vagueries of cyber world......

Okay - sooooooooooo now I've changed my mind and want the FOG to go go go!!! Gheesh - we've hit the crummy GREY winter weather here. IS there still a sun up there? Guess I should be asking Grandad since he seems able to control this! ;)

The fog here is so thick this week that you get damp after taking a bit of a walk in it.... :(:(:( I think even rain would be better.
