I have no idea why our new Prime Minister didn't accept help from the USA, Russia or Mexico! It seemed pretty darn timely to me that he get help in there.
There firefighters have now arrived all the way from South Africa

Weather forecast (which made the news) is for rain in the area today! Everybody is doing a happy dance about that one but although that is in the forecast they haven't said how much rain or how long.
The fire itself has now spread to the neighboring Province (Saskatchewan). It, the fire, is huge. The firefighters from South Africa are going to be walking the area looking for plumes of smoke coming up from the ground. They'll then dig these plumes and put out the fire underneath. Really hot dirty totally grubby back breaking work.
I have no idea why it took so long for us to accept help especially when it was offered from other sources. Seems nobody is too happy with this new Prime Minister who seems to be a smiling buffoon constantly using the phrase that goes "I'm OPTIMISTIC Canadians will respond ...... blah blah blah" His use of the word OPTIMISTIC is getting very wearing. He doesn't KNOW and is just OPTIMISTIC all will work out cause we'll do more, pay more (he is emulating Obama in the USA) in that if WE, the people would just do MORE or pay MORE it would all be ok.

Couple of things - first - yesterday it started to rain in Fort McMurray.
Secondly and I don't have too many details (our News media seems to throw out tidbits and then builds on them) however somebody has found out and reported that all the South African firefighters that are working up there are only being paid $15/day.
And lastly people are and have been returning. Some are finding their home intact, others partially intact and some have very sadly found only outlines of a foundation.

Thankfully it rains at last, hope it puts an end to all fires.
Not sure if Roy will be returning to Fort MacMurray.......in fact I've hardly seen him since he came home from there, he's no sooner home & he is sent offshore again.
Wow!!! that's a disgrace for the South Africans if only paid 15$/daily, somebody should speak up for them on the good job they're doing.
Glad to hear folks are returning home & hope these that have lost everything get all the help needed
