@RS - are you a member of a Quilting Guild? I researched over the summer and there is are very active quilting guilds in each of the little towns around here. The daughter and I are going to going one this fall as they do stop July/August but start their memberships again in Sept.

Am hoping the local Guild here gives some instruction as well as providing the inspiration to keep sewing better and better quilts.

I've spent the summer collecting and cutting squares and strips and planning patterns but with my move I haven't actually started sewing anything yet but I do have some wonderful ideas. The first quilt for my room is going to be in black and white. Might not sound impressive at this time but I've collected LOTS of material in different black and white patterns and will be getting them sewn soon as I get a sewing room. As this will be a test quilt it might not be that totally terrific but the picture I'm carrying in my mind's eye is pretty fantastic! :P :P

LLL, sorry not to have replied sooner. I am up to my eyeballs at the moment, working on a particularly difficult costume for my granddaughter's 6th birthday in September, and I'm not on the internet very often. I had started another quilt when I was asked to do it, which is on the back burner for the moment. Yes, we do have quilt groups locally and I joined one a few years ago but found out after approx. 18 months that it really wasn't for me. I work better alone. (Just call me antisocial!) on the longarm front - I went looking but it boiled down to the fact that I really don't have room. I then bought a new sewing machine with an 11" throat, plus a separate power supply, and DH is in the process of adapting the frame I already have to take the new machine. You sound as though you've already put a lot of thought and effort into your first quilt and I'll be looking forward to seeing it when finished. I should be back online properly in a couple of weeks or so, and if I can help you at all then, don't hesitate to ask. Right! Back to Sofia the 1st! :(

I did search around and there is a local Quilter's Guild here. They're not running for July and August but start up again in September, offer a couple of weekend workshops, require you try and make a quilt to donate to charity annually and discounts at various stores on supplies. Am also sure that at each of the monthly meetings they offer hints/suggestions/instruction .......

Am going to give it a try for a year.

Have 1 more sleep in this place 'til I move so I have everything packed up 'somewhere' in a box around here. Will be going on a treasure hunt to find it all again once I'm over at the new place.
