The ancestor search definitely sounds interesting. I must look into it one day. Part of my problem is that we're all so new to Canada I really need to be looking into Ancestor UK.

I still have to sort out some pictures from last week to tell you a little about the 'chill' week in Tenerife. But, suffice to say, we did our weekend visit to Whitstable harbour yesterday with daughter and SIL, and there was far more character about the place than anything we found last week...... Whoops! Am I giving preemptive clues about the Canaries trip

But for the oysters and chips trip we now take a bottle of bubbles and some disposable glasses, good fun and most enjoyable. :up (and being seafood pigs we also had a large pot of mussels and one of cockles.......are you there RS and MD? ;) )

Here are a few from yesterday.......

Glad you had an interesting day Grandad, the weather looked really nice for you. The artist in your picture looks to be pretty good, you can clearly see what he is supposed to be painting and you all look a lovely family group in your last picture enjoying your lunch on the quayside. :up

Looks lovely there, sorry about the table not being big enough, I am so envious of all that seafood . . . ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - -. Your camera? one of the expensive ones ? I can see every blade of grass under the easel, and the cars on the other side. Cant wait for your Tenerife episode . . (never been there, used to winter in the Canarias but on Gran Canaria, Jan 4th till easter.) So long ago now ---

The photos are terrific and, as Jayway says, the detail is terrific. Love the picture of the artist too. He IS really good and IS actually capturing in pretty darn good detail what he is seeing. Looks lovely.

Really nice family photo of you all too. You had a really fab setting there to enjoy your seafood which also looks pretty darn delicious too. :) :)

Waiting to hear about Tenerife. :up

I am also here RS :up although at times it does seem like we are on our own, so I would not waste too much time on it Grandad as very few will actually view what you post, sometimes I reckon we would be quicker just sending each other an email :urm:

I can see your point Jay, but when you spend literally days sometimes putting something together and get about 3 comments, then it does make you wonder why you are doing it in the first place :urm: I could put just the picture of the Grass snake from my last walking video onto a local Facebook page that has less than 50 members and still get about 20 likes and comments, but put the whole video on here and you are lucky to get that amount of total views and even less in comments, so one has to wonder what is the point of doing it when so few actually see it let alone make any worthwhile comments. :st

Guilty as charged, Horus! :( Sorry about it, but I am up to my eyeballs in work at the moment. I have a peep in early in the morning, but as soon as DH gets up, my sewing hat goes on, so although I might look in during the day again, I rarely have time to comment. Yesterday I was at a club I go to from 10am until 4 pm; then came home and cooked dinner ( which DH had prepared all the veggies for), and by the time the clearing up was done, my brain had started to shut down.

Thats fair enough RS :) you have other things to occupy your time and I sometimes think that is where the few who do post are going wrong. We feel that we must keep putting up posts and trying to add some interest and keep the forum active, in truth very few people are actually reading it and we may as well be talking to ourselves, hence my email comment. In the past I along with others have tried all sorts to generate interest from photography, to using PC programmes, from cooking to walking the dog, I stopped adding anything about Egyptology years ago as that met the same fate, so maybe it really is time to do as others do and just drop in now and again and make the odd comment (if there is anything to comment on) :st

So Horus, you will be cutting me ? I have no FB addresses, only LLL. None of you others ever visit me on my 2 public pages - Jay Way ... either a yellow luxor balloon or a felucca .. waiting for your visit ?

I won't be cutting anyone Jay :ni: neither do I really want to visit facebook pages other than the odd one I use for other things, I am only commenting about this particular forum and the lack of much interaction regarding most topics that get posted by myself and a few others. :(

Yes he is good H. He has a small cabin on the harbour where he sells his paintings. There is another cabin where a photographer sells his large framed prints. They are superb but from about £150 not exactly holiday souvenirs.

That was my little Fuji X10 Jay. It is like a little retro compact camera but very good indeed. I bought it as a refurb, about £200. Horus and me are both Fuji fans.

Not to beat a dead horse but while there is 'our' little groupie who talk on a daily basis we get over 100 visitors who are reading our stuff - they just never comment. Always makes me wonder if I've been entertaining half a hundred people I don't know.......

@ Jayway - It is 11pm-ish here right now and I can see that we've had 107 Guests in the past 24 hours - BUT - not 1 has written a word.

On a daily basis we average 100 Guests but dunno who they are........the SILENT MAJORITY I guess..........

MAYBE this IS where the silent MAJORITY hang out!?!?!?
