I use Picasa 3 to keep all my albums. It has a function under File>Export Picture to Folder, that I use because it allows you to choose a reduced format size. For landscape pictures I always put 1250 in the size box and for portrait format I put 1000. You can choose a destination for the Exported Images folder, I select desktop so they are easy to find.
If you just hover the cursor over each image it will show its new size and as long as it is less than 500kb it will upload. There are very few occasions where the file is over 500kb and on those rare occasions I just resize it again.
It always works for me but, as has been said, it is the 3 at a time upload that takes the time.
