Re: New Forum Design
Well I'm doing my best to get used to this new fangeled gold side but there are so many buttons and bits and pieces I'm frightend of touching anything incase I blow the whole thing up! Hmm but maybe I did touch something I shouldn't and broke it because every time I press a command - submit - or change a page - IE has to recover the page. I didn't have this problem yesterday.
Dare I ask...can we change fonts with this new set up. I can't see a button for it but that doesn't mean it's not there!

Re: New Forum Design
Hepzi, you will find a drop down menu next to your user name under a button called 'Options' at the top of the page just below the Egypt4U heading. That will give you access to 5 options for
previous posts.
Like you, I have not found a fonts option? Perhaps Horus or Keefy can advise....

Re: New Forum Design
Still looking for that one myself folks
and Hepzi don't worry, I have been getting that 'Recovered Page' message all evening, not quite sure what it is about, but think it maybe to do with a slow server.

I just hope L4u stays as it is, quick and easy. FB has experimented too - there is a "timeline" page now, just as awkward and messy - -

Re: New Forum Design
Got to move on Dear Jayway, Html and php code has changed over the years, some code is now obsolete, some old coding wont work soon when hosting companies upgrade their servers, Actually some code for the arcade on the old forums had to be disabled due to producing errors cause by the diiferent way of coding on the newer servers.Jayway wrote:I just hope L4u stays as it is, quick and easy. The only thing that is missing on here is the last 10 posts scroller, but why wait for a scroller to go around when you can just click the option button and then view new posts, in reality nothing much except the design as changed (except for more features, which you dont have to use), click the links like before to read the posts, click the new post button or new topic button to make a post, press the quote button if you are quoting someone, click the smilies like before to insert them into your post, press submit to submit your post.
Yes Luxor4u will change very soon
I can see where you are coming from when you are familar with something and then it changes, after some time you will get the hang of here, mind you at 101 it might take a while

Re: New Forum Design
I agree with Keefy, things just have to move on tecnologically, but people should not worry too much, as he says most things have remained the same and it does take a little time to get to grips with the new bits, I have floundered about at times, but it is usually just unfamiliarity. There are always a few glitches and as we find them then Keefy will usually sort them out, so with masses of code to go through it can take a little time. If they are ordinary problems then just send me a PM and I will try to sort it out.
I am sure that WI won't mind me saying so, but I have just sent her comprehensive instructions for uploading and inserting pictures because she asked for some help. It is no use just struggling along, if there is something you don't understand then just ask. I will upload the Album instructions (without the personal chat) as a STICKY so that anyone unfamiliar with the proceedure can refer to it.

Kiya we don't seem to have a section for Sticky's, so maybe Keefy can put one on for us, if he can't then I will add a sticky thread in the General Topics section.

Re: New Forum Design
Forget that, just found it under the poker machine scarabs! But it took a while as it is small and white and on the outer edge, and there is lots to look at (just lack of familiarity).
I don't miss that awful woman, but perhaps the writing should be in a [Blink]bright and flashing colour[[/Blink]/color] like on the old forum, and maybe we could hear a single sound like a soft chime, as I only noticed it because I was actually looking for a pm, which I don't usually do. As it is now, it might be okay for those that get daily pms so look every time they log on, but for those who don't, people could be thinking you are rude for ignoring them. :worry:

Re: New Forum Design
???? My first reply that went before the above "Forget that" post didn't appear, only my 2nd and 3rd!? I just tried to delete this pst so as to edit it, and I wasn't allowed?
Here's my first again...
I was wondering what the green tick was for.
Thanks for that, H, of course I don't mind. But where do I find my pm replies??? That startling woman is not shouting "You've got mail!" at me anymore!

Re: New Forum Design
Its funny you say that WI, i keep moaning to Horus that im missing the PM's cause I dont hear no "you got mail" sound. Im working on a sound alert where you can choose your own sound from a list of samples.
First Im working on ironing out any bugs, so we can get the forum running up to speed.
Now by looking at you post above (the one that's supposed to flash) it looks like you got a bracket misplaced.
[Blink]Just a test to see if the Blink text works[/Blink]

Re: New Forum Design
OK I will update the BBCode tip on the Blink text button..
The blink bbcode as to be before and after the text you want to blink, any other bbcodes that you use like colour, need adding after you add the blink BBCode.
[blink]I am Blinking in RED[/blink]

Re: New Forum Design
No, you're not [blink]blinking[/blink], just red. I just tried to make the word "blink" actually blink, but no luck, as you can see.
And I tried to post that my first reply to your list of symbol definitions was missing and should have been:
I was wondering about the green tick. And how do I find my pms?
That's what I meant by "Forget that" etc.
I then tried to delete it and amend my "Forget that post", but I got an error notice, and I couldn't even post that!
:mad2: PS: I want back that smilie that is pulling out it's hair and looking furious.
I know you are working hard with the paediatrician to improve things.... keep up the good work.

Yay! I managed to add my signature, which had never appeared on this new format. I'd missed my "Tiny Tut".

Re: New Forum Design
Well he's blinking well not blinking on my computer, and it's brand new with a new 4G dongle, so it's not like it cannot cope with all these new bells and whistles!
Would it being a Mac have anything to do with it?
And I just tried to add my signature on the Red Side, and though I clicked "Reset" then "Submit" and then it said it was updated, nothing has appeared.
PS: Thanks so much for the photo-uploading info. I will get around to trying it eventually.
