I'd started a thread about "if you knew then what you know now about Luxor/Egypt" and out of that came this question concerning "when" would be the best time to move.

As I am going to be moving into retirement in the very near future are there any suggestion re: making a major move before or after retirement? Do you think your move to Egypt would have been easier prior to retiring? Any special considerations to consider if you are retired re: a move? Or do you think the adjustment would still be the same if you were 'pre-retirement'?

Well, for "pre" you would need to know if you can continue your job or get another (highly unlikely in Luxor I would imagine)... do you have enough Arabic necessary? Whether you are working or not would make a significant effect: money, contact with locals, fills your day, associated benefits if any, what if any transport would be needed just for starters.
