A wonderful start to 2020?

Post by Ruby Slippers »

Well, what a start to the New Year! :( I was brushing my teeth before going to bed last night and damned me if a back tooth suddenly appeared on my tongue! :x A large back double one at that! Unfortunately it left its roots behind, so I'm hoping and praying that I won't need to visit the dentist to have them removed. Then, just to add insult to injury, I got up this morning with a dose of Pharoah's revenge! :urm: I'm not a happy bunny today!

Hope the year quickly improves for you RS. When I was in the RAF, early twenties, and then a little later I had dentists whose philosophy seemed to be, "If it's troubling you, pull it out". So, as a result I have had full dentures from about 50 years of age.
That is not a problem though, goodbye to toothache and gum problems......and......no spitting when I clean my teeth.

Oh RS that is rotten for you. Hope you feel better now.

Barry broke 3 teeth last year (I nearly said this year but it was 2019!) planning on several visits to Mr Shawky as soon as we get back. Luckily they haven't hurt so he was able to postpone treatment.

Oh dear Ruby, I hope that isn't as painful as it sounds! :o

I this catching or what? I usually go to a family friend in Ibiza, since I can't get to Mr. Shawky who made my partial metallic based plate. I guess I too am going to have at least one removed but I think I need a new base plate. Mr. Shawky made mine with 3 teeth for £300 I have had more teeth added but it's possible virtually a full plate is going to cost a couple of thousand sterling.

Oh, just remembered  my stepson in Luxor is a dentist with his own clinic - which I haven't ever seen yet.

Geez RS definitely hope there is no pain and all can be fixed quickly and easily. YIKES!!! sure doesn't sound good and hope this isn't an ominous start to 2020.

Mid-January I finally get my back tooth that I had to have a bone graft for. It is being made now and will be re-inserted permanently now that the bone has re-grown around the plug. This has been a year long effort and I definitely hope this ends my teeth breaking off and falling out for awhile.

No, there was no pain or blood! It literally just fell out into my mouth, but left the roots behind. Nothing can be done about it now. Ah well! Getting older is proving an education on its own!

I've just remembered that a wisdom tooth of mine fell off like yours about 20 years ago and even though it was level with the gum my dentist crowned it and it is still in working order and has never been painful. So good luck with yours Ruby

I seem to be on a roll at the moment for breaking things! Yesterday I broke the shower (electric) so most of yesterday and today has meant upheaval whilst DH fits a new one! I'm getting very wary of touching anything in case I break it! :-(

I was brushing my teeth this morning and it happened to me! Not a back tooth, but a canine which was crowned. Never happened before, there was no warning. What a weird co-incidence. :ni:

How really odd, MD! All I can say is " watch your teeth, folks! There's bound to be a 3rd!"
