KIYA LAS VEGAS

Post by Kiya »

Hi Grandad and folks, no need to worry we were home on Tuesday evening safe and well after nearly a days travelling.

One thing for sure I will not be flying anywhere that far again , 10 1/2 hours from Heathrow to Las Vegas to Heathrow then the flight from Heathrow to Aberdeen and by car home, Iv'e never welcomed home so much before and a nice cuppa.

After taking all precautions on the 5th day a chest and throat infection flared up with me, the same as I had from holiday in Faro Portugal but worse, I had to see a doctor and got prescribed
steroids and antibiotics for a week, it hasn't cleared yet but hoping so soon with more antibiotics from my own doctor..................gosh I've never felt so laden down and so tired before and needing to sleep all the time.

I have lots of photos but not had the interest yet to load to my computer but I'll get there folks, just bear with me a little longer as I build my strength............soon :)

At last folks I'm feeling a lot better :)

I've finally got to uploading holiday photos, there is many and going to take a bit of time getting through them, resizing etc.

Lets start at the beginning on....

21.1.19 Leaving Aberdeen....taxing 10048 and airborne 10049

22.1.19 Watching the sunrise while I wait for Roy to waken....10050 10051

This is not to everyone's taste but because the The Exhibition of Real Bodies was on the premises of the hotel we were staying , we did this first.
It explained the workings of the human bones, circulation, muscles, respiratory system etc.

10052 10053 10054

10055 10056 10057

10058 10059 10061

10062

More to come for the 22.1.19

Excellent photo of the 'real' bodies. I remember back when that Exhibit was first coming to the USA. Lots of outcry concerning the bodies being real and that was horrible desecration and inhuman and on and on. Personally I find it fascinating and would have loved to see it. The lungs & nerves/veins of the human head are just so delicate yet it all goes together to make us. Can't even begin to image the work that went into preserving or how they preserved these. Love 'em!!

I like to think that I can appreciate art. But what is this, art? Not to me, I find it grotesque. Just as I find much of Damian Bursts work grotesque. The exception would be his 'The Virgin Mother' that I found beautiful when I first saw it.
But it is all a matter of personal opinion.

I don't believe this is "art" in the sense of something that is artistically created but these are sure fascinating as a way to educate in real models all the workings of the human body. And however it was done it sure took somebody a super long time to make these, preserve them and pose them into common stances we can relate to.

Was too fast hitting the submit button and I wasn't finished .........

I look at this much like I'd look at taxidermy or figures in a museum. They're created to show the inner workings of the human body that we normally would not see and are we not totally intricate, complex, amazing? Sometimes you can look at photos all day long but not really get to SEE the real thing.

Maybe medical museum pieces LLL but not a travelling freak show. :(
But that is just my opinion.

Damn this spellchecker, I typed Damien Hirst in my post but my tablet printed something else.

Spell checker and auto correct are rapidly becoming the bane of my existence. I have to re-read almost everything I type as sometimes what I type isn't even close to what comes out on the screen. I know I make the occasional typo resulting in mis-spelled words but when I'm consistently inserting words I swear I didn't even type - THAT I'm blaming on spell checker/auto correct.

@LovelyLadyLux
Just read your post LLL and had to 'double take'
I then realised that I made my post while having breakfast in bed, you had probably not yet retired. I sometimes have a problem relating our 8 hour time difference.

Excellent photos Kiya and catch very well how large these casinos are.

Did you walk around inside Caesar's Palace? It was one of the ones I got quite disoriented in and must have circled it all twice before I got my bearings and found my way out. It is huge with seemingly miles and miles of slot machines that all look identical.

That's more like it Kiya :up Good pictures of interesting scenes. The fountains look amazing, was there music playing as the fountains changed?
Everything looks larger than life and over the top but that is what I think of Las Vegus. I don't mean that in a nasty way, just big brash American ;)

Thank you for the pics Kiya, especially the ones showing how a human body works.

On reflection, I think as a teaching aid they are unequalled. It's because these are real people that what I see is burned into my mind in a way that would never be with a diagram. I shall be sending these pictures to my children and my grandson. Thank you. :up
