Haven't got any Christmas guests until Tuesday, Horus! They are all going elsewhere for the day. Fortunately, I've got the microwave, although that's approx 35 years old, and an electric steamer. Am I bovvered?

Just got back home after a hectic 5.25 hours non stop, taking my son to do his duty at the county court. Take out 1 hour for hanging about and then being told that the woman making the assault claim against her partner had failed to turn up. :x So I have spent more than 4 hours driving between two highly congested towns with holiday traffic snarling up every junction, roundabout and traffic lights to cover less than 50 miles all told. At least the presiding magistrate made a point of calling my son into the courtroom and publicly thanking him for making the effort at such a difficult time to appear as a witness, :up I felt like shouting out “what about me who has been driving through heavy traffic for 4 bleeding hours getting him here and back home again?” :st and we won’t even mention the parking. Anyway short of something drastic that is me done now, I am not going through the door other than up the pub tonight. :wi

I have nothing much to do today at all. Soon as the bread I'm baking is done I'm outta here to go down to the local grocery store restaurant for a cuppa and read and people watch at bit. I always tour the store prior to leaving so might pick up "something" (no idea what as I'm not looking for anything) last minute if it catches my eye.

Might go and see the daughter and Grandkids today as it is their last day in school but the entire school is going to the movie theatre today to watch the new movie "Fernando." They're totally hyped but it IS the season so don't mind but I might also opt out of seeing them too - dunno. Will see how the day goes.

I started watching Unabomber on Netflix last night. Not excellent but also not dull so that is on the agenda again for tonight.

I'm cooking a small turkey on Sunday as the crew will be here for Christmas Eve Day dinner but this year it is a small one vs one of the larger birds and I'm not going overboard with cooking a huge meal as I'm not in the mood to eat leftovers for months and months afterwards.

No sun but no more snow either.

LLL, Unabomber on Netflix is a good programe and another excellent (4 season) detective series on there is 'The Killing' but make sure you select the English made version, the original version with the same title is foreign made with sub-titles

@H - I'll have a look for "The Killing." I like the detective/mystery/whodunits. Watched Narcos and thought it was really good.

After having very little sleep for the past three nights and getting up at 3.45am this morning, I'm like a walking zombie! :( I sat and watched 'Goodnight Mr Tom' again earlier and I think I will be going up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire soon, so goodnight all! :zz

I have not heard that saying since I was a little kid RS. so it brought back a flash memory of a lovely little old lady who lived next door to us when I was a small child. She would often say that to us kids when it was bedtime "up the wooden hills to Bedfordshire", another thing she would say when her own birthday came around was "well I have made it up May Bank for another year" May Bank being a rather steep hill in the locality. As she was quite old it was her way of saying that she had made it through the previous year and into the next one, it was a sad day when she finally didn’t make it up May Bank, but thanks for jogging my fond memories of her. :)

So glad that a simple phrase bought back treasured memories for you, Horus. :up After a good night's sleep, I got up at 6.15am, full of beans and (almost) raring to go! :D A few final things to do today before a full-on assault course tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.

I woke up feeling a "bit normal" as a dear friend says. Fell off the perch a couple of days ago but ok now it seems.

The family are visiting friends, so I've wrestled with a ancient Dyson, pottered in the kitchen, had three sessions on my favourite video game, went shopping locally and bought a two person tea pot as mine is only one person and the folks don't drink the same kind of tea as me.
Also bought some bit s for the kitchen and a "meal deal" for our local beggar who I haven't seen on his pitch for a couple of weeks. He looks pretty rough, says he's had pneumonia, I wouldn't be surprised if he has. I don't usually give him much, he's pretty well supported. but he's a human being after all.

Now cooking some fish for lunch and if the family stay out I might tackle brushing the stair carpet........ :D
Smile! It confuses people

I phoned the Dentist office this morning cause last night at the crack of 10pm whilst watching Netflix I broke a tooth :( BLOODY BLOODY HELL! Just had a big chip fall off a lower tooth. Nothing is hurting and I think it is probably more a filing that was replace about 4 yrs ago but the voicemail on the Dentist office is indicating they're not back 'til January 3rd! AGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Years ago and I do mean decades ago when I was about 17 I was in a serious horseback riding accident and managed to bounce me all down a gravel road hitting everything. Really smacked my mouth bad, killed a front tooth and damaged others. Through the miracles of modern dentistry and miracle of crowns I have a pleasant smile and ok teeth but Dentists rub their hands with glee and I can literally hear the 'ca-ching' of $$ signs whenever they look in my mouth and see all the work that has been done and could be done.

Ahh well. Avoiding hot tea, won't bite down on anything and 'yup' totally in timing with having holidays.

I am hating these few days before the 25th. First year without a car so fewer actual gifts this year sustituted with cash to spend as they like. We really have nowt to do until our first pick up on Monday morning.

I have put the two smart bulbs, that came with the Hive kit, in bedroom ceiling fittings so that I can turn them on and off from my mobile phone when we are out of the house Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Made a couple of charitable donations online as I normally do. Don't have any down and outs nearby or my charity would also have extended to them.

I do think about others at this time. I created my seasonal avatar some years ago to make a jovial Christmas Card specifically to send to our old friend Don Blackwell (DAB17).

The other day LLL mentioned when she had a horse, this prompted a thought about Jayway. As she has not been around for a long time I sent her an email some months ago but received no reply.
I can't remember why Jay withdrew from posting but I would have hoped that we would see her again and now wonder if she is OK. I hope so because I did have some friendly exchanges with her, mainly about Portugal as a holiday destination.
Has anyone heard from Her?

Afraid not Grandad, the last I remember from her posting on here was that she had been in hospital for some sort of problem, like you I hope she is OK.
