Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
Today I will visit my old mum who now stays with my brother and SIL, if I get the visit done early I will maybe take Annie out to a local conservation area for a walk. If not I will try and finish getting the moss from between the paviers of my drive using one of those special wire brushes with a scraper attached, that way it makes less mess when power washing them later.

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
I will be taking Glory out later now the gale is over and its warmed up a bit. Moss looks pretty,(at least its flat, not like the 5 foot daisies here) Horus but I suppose you have to keep up with the neighbours .. haaa haaaa. I have more soup to make later to save space in the freezer. LLL, why do you make men DIG out a palm tree, do you not have chainsaws and acid there ? The stump could probably be a small table by your lounger - - -

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
Never seen a 5 foot daisy, or is that a Sunflower?, anyway sounds better than moss
It's not a case of keeping up with anyone Jay, I do it most years otherwise everything would look filthy after the long Winter months with all the crap that builds up on the drive and patio areas. We don't get all that lovely sunshine that you do to kill off the green algae that appears every year.

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
Been installing a twin outside socket so that I can run the sentry light AND a transformer for the camera. Batteries are becoming too expensive and it is no good buying cheapies, they only last a few nights.
Went to put the car back in the garage and nearside front looked a bit low. I have those warning valve caps fitted and it was showing red....down to 11psi
Have inflated it and will get it repaired tomorrow.
The plus side is that the weather is looking good, the windows need cleaning so maybe that is tomorrows task.......the house not the car

Do not repair front tyres Grandad, buy new ones. Where did you get warning valve caps??? I will ask my friend to send me some if you tell me where you bought them . thankyou. Oh, Horus, as the farmer is not very good at farming ( disc harrows instead of ploughing) even me leading Glory to her tether cant walk thro the banks of goddam white daisies. I am 5.5 and some are over my head.

my jeep gives a readout on all 4 tyres when i start her up. Its fascinating, and almost distracting to watch the readouts change on cold days, as they warm up.
Dont get your knickers in a knot. It solves nothing and just makes you walk funny

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
I'm going to have a lazy weekend before I start next week on Roy's jobs.
Was down at his earlier just getting everything ready so my lazzzzzy time begins now
He arrived at Edmonton ok as far as I know......(I hope) I tracked him all the way from Aberdeen airport to Reykjavik Iceland but lost him after that, I had no idea what airport he was heading to in Toronto, there are 4 at least there.
Different time zones in each place he landed so I suppose he was really ready for sleep.
Hopefully I'll hear from him today sometime.

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
@Kiya - I'd think if Roy was coming in on an International flight he'd land 'somewhere' at Pearson International. It is the main biggie in Toronto however it is absolutely HUGE. He'd also be flying out from there too and I'd assume would have a direct flight to Edmonton.
A few months back I joined a group here who fund raise and who do charitable acts both locally and internationally. I joined mid-way in the year (January) so am not really into the full swing of any of the projects they're working on yet however today is their annual Retreat. We have a speaker from the RCMP coming to talk about fraud in the morning. Afternoon has another speaker re: travelling then a lady coming in to read our tea leaves. This is the wrap up to the day so a bit of fun but we all have to bring proper cups and saucers so as to have our leaves properly read. The cups can't have anything inside the cup - no logos or anything like that. Will let you know what my FUTURE holds as per the tea leaves

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
I dunno - but just been frantically searching about the house AND I can't find ANY tea cups with saucers that do NOT have something inside the cup sooooo we're just going to have to wing it with a cup at the place!
Ahhh well - if I go UP in flames when she reads my tea leaves we'll all know why!

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
The electrician came this morning and went through the increasing list of things I want done. He seems very practical and sensible.
However we got onto the subject of smoke alarms and he said that if he installed new ones he would have to "wire them in" under recent legislation, because sometimes batteries are flat and people don't realise they are at risk.
However, he said, if I approach the Fire Service they will supply as many fire alarms as I need, free of charge and these are, I understand battery operated. I said I'd rather have them wired in, as quite apart from anything else, the Fire Service does a fantastic job and I'd rather support them than "steal" from them when I can afford to pay.
I still haven't heard from builder number 2 - so have asked the "Sparks" to get a quote from his company, as he mentioned they are not busy next week.
I've done more turning out and getting rid of old "stuff" - not mine maybe, but so good for moral.

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
Why is that Jay. I inflated it this morning, drove to my regular tyre depot and had it repaired. What's wrong with that? It is still well within the legal limit (Nearly three times the minimum actually)Jayway wrote:Do not repair front tyres Grandad, buy new ones.

LLL It could very well be Pearson Intl, that was the first one to come up in my search.
Have spoken with him today & he said he arrived at midnight Canadian time ready to crash out, after all with 3 flights & transfer time at each airport it was a long tiring journey.
I have to remember now when I speak with him that he is 7 hours behind me

Re: What are you doing today (Number 2)
@MD - here I have a battery operated fire alarm and a wired in fire alarm. IF the electric is out or otherwise compromised and a fire starts the alarm on a wired in one isn't going to go. Granted the battery could go out but when a battery gets weak here the alarm starts to chirp and will continue to do so for weeks until it is either replaced or goes completely flat. I've opted to for 2 - wired in and battery.
