Re: What are you doing today?
Yes I hope you are feeling a lot better, but it is certainly something you need to get investigated. Did you by any chance eat something that could have caused the vomiting and all that retching will have caused the hernia and you must get that sorted ASAP.

Re: What are you doing today?
Started work in the kennels at 7.30 and have just made it back to my desk for 10am opening. I have 7 due in and 3 due out over the next 3 hours, then I can put my feet up, stick the football on the tv and chill for the afternoon
Dont get your knickers in a knot. It solves nothing and just makes you walk funny

Re: What are you doing today?
I am considering treating myself to Sunday lunch down the local carvery pub, but my son said he may call over the weekend so can't really decide one way or the other. My internet is getting more pathetic by the day, I am sure that Sky are doing it on purpose because I am leaving them, the new modem is down for delivery on Monday and the changeover to super fast fibre sometime Tuesday, so if I disappear for a while you will all know why.

Re: What are you doing today?
Don’t you just hate those automated emails from businesses ?
I keep getting them from BT about my new Broadband connection, things like
“We are nearly there, your new modem will arrive on Monday”
So its Monday and I have another one saying
“Your new modem has been dispatched”
With it comes a tracking number so I used it to see when they intended to deliver as I need to go out later today, guess what? Their progress checker is saying I already have it and telling me the next step is the installation?
I now have to hope that this is just another example of automated responses that so many companies seem to use nowadays that leave us all frustrated. No doubt some over keen courier has put it on a van then ticked his little box to say its been delivered so they look efficient. As you cannot respond to these automated things all that they really do is annoy you as it is not what is happening in the real world and you are left wondering what is going on and trying to follow it up by phone would be a nightmare, I just wish they didn't send them out in the first place. As with all these things we are in the lap of the gods, so best just sit back and see what happens, at least the main fibre optics box is only about 100 yards away so on Tuesday I can sit on a nearby wall and make sure he does the connection properly.

Re: What are you doing today?
Thankyou everyone for the good wishes. I am taking no chances again, I am eating organic oats and barley porridge with nut milk, and white fish for a while. I shall look into hernias when I feel a little less squeamish -yuk.

Re: What are you doing today?
Do please remember that most hernias are not just a muscular strain of some sort, they can be quite dangerous as they are really ‘bulges’ of either intestines or organs through the muscular wall that keeps all our internal bits where they should be. The danger lies when this trapped or bulged bit gets squeezed by the muscular wall, a bit like blowing bubble gum through your lips, it can turn nasty, so get it looked at. Most hernias just require pushing back through the rupture and maybe a few internal stitches to repair the weakness in the wall, bottom line is that they do not go away on their own, although a doctor may say it is liveable with after an examination.

Re: What are you doing today?
I had an umbilical hernia (yes, I have had many things
) about 30 years ago. Very painful and after surgery it left me with no belly button
But it must have been sufficiently serious to actually remove tissue and not just stitch it up so, as Horus says, they can be serious. Take care Jay....

Re: What are you doing today?
Well my new moden arrived, so I loaded up the car to go visit my brother and my mum plus take Annie out for a walk, zilch! flat battery
So just waiting for my AA mate to pitch up and test me the battery, it may just be the really cold weather that has killed it, or possibly because I dont do the milleage anymore to keep it fully charged during the Winter months, Then again it may just be shot as its a few years old now, but as it is inside the vehicle it looks pristine although you cant go on looks, no doubt thats another £70 on the cards

I know how you feel Horus. I have another sick sewing machine and it's £40 just to take the cover off without doing anything!

Re: What are you doing today?
Well good luck with your machine RS and the same with your car sale LLL. Mine looks like just a flat battery as it started right off with a jump charge, it is now on an 8 hour trickle charge until about midnight and then tomorrow when it is fully charged my mate will carry out a discharge test on the battery to see if its OK or not, so fingers crossed.

Re: What are you doing today?
I 'think' I have it sold. At least I have a non-refundable deposit in my hand and a time to meet up at the Dept of Licencing tomorrow. (Hope they're willing to drive me home afterwards).
Also wish somebody would just as fast at my bicycle/juicer/chair ........ Got them listed but no cigar so far. Given the weather here which is pretty blustery raw cold I don't blame people for not wanting to come out.

Re: What are you doing today?
Got a very early notification from BT that my new fibre optic broadband was now active, much to my surprise it set itself up very easily, wow! I remember the bad old days when you could mess about for days getting it to work. I pay for 38 Mbs unlimited and I just ran a speed test and much to my surprise it is running at 37.5 Mbs download which is fantastic as they usually take a few days to settle the line speed at the optimum, lets just hope it stays up there at the top end
my upload speed is at 9.45 which is also great especially when you consider I was only getting a paltry download of 2.4 Mbs and 0.6 Mbs upload before, just hope that the rest of my day goes as well

Great stuff H
Just checked mine and it reads 30.5 download and 2.1 upload, so you have a really good service. Hope it continues....

Re: What are you doing today?
:dance4: My happy dance cause my American car is now GONE
16 yr old Honda with low mileage - I actually had mega people line up AND one man even offered $200 MORE than I asked (but I was already holding a deposit with another man)
Gone Gone Gone (and the headache of maintaining an OLD car here)

Re: What are you doing today?
Glad you got it all sorted LLL, something less for you to bother about.
Grandad I am hoping that I now have my sorted internet although I did have one problem with my Amazon Firestick which was behaving strangely, it was saying my Wi-Fi was connected OK and a strong signal being received, then in the same breath it was saying it could not connect to the network? So after a lot of faffing about it seems that the Amazon Fire & Firestick stuff has a problem with BT’s Infinity Hub 5. Strangely enough although both parties seem to be aware of this, both say it is a compatibility issue and it cannot be resolved. Oh yes it can, if you go into the ‘Hub Manager’ and turn off the ‘Smart Setup’ option, it connects,
weird to say the least, but hopefully that problem is now sorted. I reckoned I had done enough work on my birthday, so just had myself a nice Chinese meal and am about to open a bottle of Merlot and hopefully stream myself a good movie.
