Re: Snow
Mmm, "Unacceptable turbidity" seems to be a rather vague statement and typical of government/official 'none speak'. Why don't they say that either the water purification has become contaminated because of unacceptably high water levels, or that the water is coming in too fast to properly filter and treat it prior to it getting into the drinking supply, either way it does seem that E-coli or similar from sewage is a potential risk. Hopefully with four steps above ground level your friends home will be OK

Re: Snow
In all the years I've lived on this Island we've had lots of far heavier rains and gales than this. Never before has this type of alert been issued and now the "wonder why" is starting......IS the actual water purification stuff so old it isn't acceptable? Has the City built up to the point the present system isn't able to keep up with everything - i.e. drainage no longer able to cope - whatever .... ? Has something gotten into our water supply OR did the City finally get a machine to tell them the water is maybe not good and/or did they finally hirer somebody who actually might know what water turbidity means?
Anyway - seems this water could be turbid is also for the next couple of towns up the coast too.......
The LAST turbidity alert that I see on this chart was from 2001 with a similar report from a small tiny place that probably DID have a problem with untreated water.
