I know it is just cause "I" am in the USA right now and my mere presence has caused this but the price of gas has been steadily dropping since I got here. Down, yes DOWN .23 pennies at the pump since I arrived and had been slipping for a time before I got here.
Not really sure why this sudden drop other than the American mid-term elections are in November so the push down of gas prices is maybe related to this. My only other thoughts are that fracking has finally taken off or those in control of the gas and oil prices in the Middle East are feeling generous and so are opting to sell it for less. Not too sure this is realistic as I doubt the Oil Barons are selling oil to win personality contests.
It is however nice(r) at the pump to fill up for $2.84/gallon vs $3.49 to $3.69/gallon.
Are prices doing a similar slow limbo (dance) there?
I get confused when thinking about the 'little' US gallon and our Imperial gallon LLL. We now only buy gas in litres. I filled up today and paid £1.227 per litre. In November 2012 I paid £1.399, always at the same filling station.
Todays price equates to about £5.58 per Imp gallon and about £4,65 per US gallon. So from what you have quoted it would seem that you pay around the equivalent of £2.06 per Imp gallon, or around 37% of what we pay.
I always do forget the American gallon is smaller than the Canadian gallon too. Gas in Canada right now is $1.29 per litre and our prices have been much more stable than here in the USA.
That is super duper super cheap for gas in Florida. It hasn't been that cheap here for over 10 years. We're lucky in this corner of the USA if gas is now under $3/gallon.
