See definitely has alert eyes. Compare hers to the average house dog and I'm not sure you'd get the same level of alert in all photos. Guess that comes with living by your wits and Grandad's jam sandwiches in the wild. Hope you're adding some peanut butter and other goodies from time to time for her too ;) ;)

She definitely does have range of expression akin to those of the domestic dog.

Yesterday we thought one of the neighbors had acquired a duck and put it on their balcony. There had been some sort of quacking going on for well over 24 hours off and on. Then my husband realized it was someone sawing wood.

Just an update on the fox situation. We saw a cub with both parents last evening but so far there appears to be just a single new cub. This is unusual because they normally have at least two and last year we had four. However this little fellow (or girl) looks in great condition. Sorry about unsharp pictures, through upstairs double glazing. :(

Grandad, I saw an item on the Sky news this morning where a newspaper article was raving on about a picture it had of two albino squirrels and how it was extremely rare to have albino siblings, now if I remember rightly you have had a pair of albinos from one litter?

Yes Horus we have had albinos around for many years and one year we believe that two albinos had produced two albino kits. I have a picture of all four on the bank.
This year we had two but in the last couple of weeks, have only seen this one that comes down to find any left over scraps or sunflower seeds that the birds have rejected from the seed feeder.

Edit:
I found this already in my album. I uploaded it in 2012 but it was probably earlier than that.

Those albino squirrels are definitely cute and showy too (compared to the grey ones)

AHHH HAAAA!!!!! FINALLY I can throw down the gauntlet to Grandad's wildlife corner! :up :up :up :P :P :P

Today when I came 'round the side of the house I caught a glimpse of 2 of the rarest birds around here. Two silver bronze tipped great cranes! AND they were in my garden having a look see through my potted plants. I keep this corner full of plants in pots as it is the only corner of the house that gets shade. A tiny bit of sun in the afternoon but mostly shade. Just had the man here this weekend pressure washing this area as it grows moss. Was quite surprised to see these two rare specimens given all the noise that has been going on........

These are rare specimens!! And now will have to wait for Grandad to top these two! ;) ;) :P

Wow! those are indeed extremely rare and to find a mating pair in such a location is like finding 'rocking horse' poo in your garden. There is one thing I should point out though, I am sure they are the much rarer 'mottled' silver bronze tipped great cranes! and not the more common silver bronze tipped great cranes that you first identified them to be, but you do need to be an expert like myself to spot the difference especially when their plumage is in breeding condition. :up

Actually H I think you could be correct which would make them even rarer (or more rare?) and an even BIGGER challenge for Grandad to beat! I think I caught them in mating dance pose too. You'll note the angle of the beaks and necks which is part of the mating ritual. Grandad's wildlife savannah is always producing babies so am sure in a few months time this pair will be setting a nest and hatching out a brood too

You obviously need your glasses on because I can see the nest very near to that big pot, but I'll admit it is hard to see.

Very clever how their nests and eggs blend into the surroundings. But with all those predatory deer around it is a good thing they do. ;)

These cranes do manage to camouflage well but you've discovered their nest Horus!! LOTS of eggs and a whole clutch of babies to be running around soon! This will definitely up the ante on Grandad! ;) ;)
