Right now I'm busily and happily eating blueberries daily. I've planted 7 blueberry bushes of different varieties and am getting a bumper crop this year. I don't think too much about recipes I'd use blueberries in cause they rarely last much beyond coming in the door.
I'm also getting lots of gooseberries this year too. In Canada I had real gooseberries but here in the USA I've only ever found a hybredized bush that produces dark purple small berries. They taste good and I'm eating them raw but this one bush has grown in overdrive and I've got tons of these berries. I've tried giving them away but nobody here seems to like them that much.
Anybody have recipes for Gooseberries? I'm not too big on jam (prefer marmalade) and want to be able to use these in something other than raw.
I love raspberries too but only fresh. They seem to get acidic and sharp once frozen.

The best thing you can do with Gooseberries is in a nice shortcrust pastry pie. Pastry on the bottom and just layer the fruit on, as much as possible and a good sprinkle of sugar all over the fruit, add the top layer of pastry and crimp all around, poke a slit in the top, then slap it in the oven to bake. Eat hot or cold, with a dollop of ice cream.

Nice to see you on here KJB
I had forgotten about the Fruit Crumble for the "GoosGogs" as we used to call them as kids
And can anyone remember those little tart thingies we used to get here in the UK that were filled with Bilberries which are similar to LLL's Blueberries? They had a dollop of some sort of thick mock cream on the top which always turned Purple as you were eating them and you always got a blob of it in your nose, Mmm yummy
