Anybody remember this?
Back then I remember us having dance lessons in gym where we'd learn different ethnic dances and actual dance steps. Granted the dances and steps changed over the years but back in the past you actually could kind of pin point a dance to a specific era of time. Always great fun to learn a different dance and then be able to work up a sweat dancing and jumping to the music.
I'm not too sure now if there are any dances that characterize today? The music of today often seems to be just loud noise and I don't know if there are specific dances or even dance moves that link to 2019.
Do you remember your most favourite dance?

Re: From the 1950ies
I met my wife around 1954 at ballroom dance classes so we tended to do strict tempo dance. Both our fathers had a car and we could borrow them to go to local Saturday night dances around the area where the big bands of the day would be appearing.
There was an American air base at Manston and it was normal to enclose an area of the dance floor specifically for the Yanks to do their Jive, Jitterbug and Bebop.
We never really got into that and my fav would probably be The Quickstep....
Boring I suppose

I never learned anything like that at my school , I love seeing all these dances from the 50's and 60's, and the music was better too.
Today they just make a noise and jump about........so weird
