What it is to be British

Post by Grandad »

Quiet on here the last couple of days. I found this on another forum and thought it might add a bit of lightheartedness to a gloomy Tuesday morning.

WHAT IT IS TO BE BRITISH
Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. The most British thing of all?

Of course we also drive on the wrong side of the road but we are far from unique in that.

I liked this response from a forum member in Texas:
I love this quote from King Edward VIII: "What impresses me most about America is the way parents obey their children."
I've always admired the British--their precision with language, their stoicism, and their dry sense of humor.
Whatever it is to be British, it's working!
