I've been talking today to a chap from Cameron Balloons who has just come back from visiting a couple of companies in Luxor.
He said the there were a surprising number of visitors in Luxor, mostly but not all Oriental.
The balloon companies are flying a lot of passengers, though probably the price is ridiculously low. Not so low though that it has stopped the orders of spares and even new balloons from the UK.
He said he found everyone very upbeat, inspired by the great increase in tourist numbers.
Obviously if the crews are getting paid, the hotel staff getting paid etc it does have a knock on effect for the whole community.

Re: Luxor update
Some good news for Luxor at last and I suppose like everything in life we have to accept change. I cannot see that the European market will pick up that much even if travel warnings are removed, their future is now in the Asian market, but maybe not as profitable overall.

Re: Luxor update
The Egyptian pound is exchanging at around 21 to the GBP so it should be a cheap destination. I would honestly go next Monday but I can't persuade Mrs G.

Me too Grandad! Still I as getting videos phone calls etc. apart from the fact that I can't physically travel that far, I won't be drawn back into the business at this point. I need to give 100% in business and I haven't got that sort of energy right now.
Smile! It confuses people

Re: Luxor update
The exchange rate may be higher, but from what I can see it is just reflected in everything costing more so hardly any real benefit.

Re: Luxor update
Wonder how the touts fare with Asian tourists? My experience of Asian buyers is that they're usually looking for big famous Brand name exclusive products when they're shopping. Would be interesting as to how the Sellers in the Souk make out with them.
