May calls UK General Election
Well what a smart move, at one fell swoop she will settle several issues at once. It will be a major opportunity for any Remoaners to get a second bite at the cherry and if there are enough people who oppose it (Brexit) then they (the Tories) will lose the election, this is all about Brexit. Secondly it will finally get through to the Labour militants that their choice of leader is a big mistake and that the country in general will never vote for a labour government under Jeremy Corben, so hopefully after they get trounced Labour will once again become a viable alternative with a new leader. The wee little Jimmy Krankie impersonator North of the border will no longer be able to try and wag the tail of the English dog and those washy Liberals will no longer be able the threaten to grind government to a halt, better still those unelected members of the House of Lords will be put firmly in their place. Its a simple choice for the electorate, we either back her and her Brexit negotiation plans and give her a strong negotiating hand on Europe, or we kick the Tories out, its a simple choice and the options and future implications of how we vote and what we are voting for is perfectly clear, so after the election if they get re-elected then there can be no back peddling by any opposition groups, bring it on I say and lets settle the issue once and for all.

Re: May calls UK General Election
Just got in from town and heard the news.
Good on you Teresa Forcasters are saying she could get around 100 seat majority and I hope she does. Two fingers then to all the 'remoaners' and disrupters trying to derail the Brexit negotiations.
Let 'em have it and take no prisoners Teresa

The thing is Grandad the Remoaners will have nothing left to whinge about, because if people have a problem with Brexit or the way Teresa May wants to handle it, then this is their opportunity to vote for someone else who says they will do things differently, once that is decided in a general election I just hope that everyone accepts it whichever way it goes.

Re: May calls UK General Election
In the last, 2015, election UKIP attracted around 4 million votes Nationwide. A large percentage of those voters were previously Labour supporters. They must accept that UKIP's race is run, they don't even have one MP anymore. I hope that those voters will carefully assess the situation. They voted for Brexit and the Conservatives will deliver Brexit so it must be in their interest to vote Conservative and not return to a Labour vote. What would be the point?
Some of the minor parties are with the government, Plaid Cymru and the Unionists for example.
With a convincing victory and the support of other parties, the Conservatives can shut up the non elected agitators in the other house.
An exciting 7 weeks ahead and bring it on.

I agree Grandad, lets put an end to all the whinging. Now is the time to put up or shut up, here is another opportunity for the remoaners to have another say, if anyone has reconsidered the Brexit vote then they have a chance to change their minds and vote for another party that says they will either recind it or go for a softer version. Other than that if the Tories get back in again it will be on a clear mandate to go ahead as promised and in a way that Teresa May deems fit and not subject to a lot of prior conditions from other parties that would tie our hands at any negotiations.

At least your elections are called hence not the years and years and years of wind up like in the US elections!
I think, in the world in general, we're at real turning points and IMO NONE of the Politicians are really helping the common man anymore. They've created a separate class for themselves and are using that to full advantage.
