This video has amazing views of the cathedral .
You will see it load during the video but, keep with it.
Grandad you'd probably spot your house from the roof of the cathedral.
It really is a beautiful building
I hope it works for you all.

Re: CANTERBURY CATEDRAL VIDEO
Terrific Kiya, have not seen those before.
I can't quite see my house but on pictures like that I just have to look for a line of large trees to the north. They are there but I am hidden on the other side of them. (it is the old Whitstable railway line)
I love that building and as Horus said you just have to marvel at the skill of the stonemasons. Fortunately the Cathedral has a very skilled stone masonry workshops who are often called upon to do work for other sites. One of my favourite features of the Cathedral is the eight vault ceiling below Bell Harry Tower. Often missed if you don't look up at 'The Crossing' it is in the video and here is one of my earlier pics of it from my album.
It is stunning.
I think I have mentioned before that, if you zoom and look closely at the central roundel with the central cross, you can see where that section can be raised from above to allow heavy large objects to be lifted up the tower. Above there, is a treadmill hoist that I have also mentioned before.
When they made the videos the Great South West window was still out for restoration. Hopefully that will be reinstated early next year and I will keep you posted.

And LLL, they are interactive so you can move each image to suit yourself, just move the cursor slowly though or it will take off You can also zoom with your thumb wheel. They really are very good images.

Re: CANTERBURY CATEDRAL VIDEO
THankyou Kiya, I feel quite dizzy now ! What a huge building, so ornate, I often wonder why churches were built so enormous, it must have been freezing inside, like a wind tunnel ? Visited a cathedral years ago, just inside the door was a stall selling bric-a-brac, and books and magazines including Playboy. Didnt bother visiting any more .
