Re: What are you doing today?
Just saw some stats on the flu and so far in Canada we've had 82 deaths from it and something like 23,000+ reported cases. These numbers are already well in excess of the flu season last year.

Touch wood, so far I have managed to avoid it, either that or the flu jab is very effective, time will tell.

Talking of the dreaded flu - where's Grandad? I know he looked in on Friday but he hasn't posted. Anyone heard from him?

Re: What are you doing today?
Hopefully nobody else on here gets the flu. Was watching the stats on TV News last night for here and they're about double what they were last year. Every year there is lots of discussion that the flu is bad but seems this year it is REALLY REALLY BAD.
Hard to say what Grandad is up to. If memory serves he's been talking about holidays so quite possible he found a quickie trip and is off basking in the sun on a tropical beach or maybe sitting in the Souk in Luxor or exploring the coastline of Wales/Scotland/Ireland or going north to tour the Scandinavian countries
Been watching TV and noting the Democrats have now shut down the US Gov't refusing to vote. Not good and personally IMO if an elected official simply refuses to vote (which I see as part of their job) they should be removed from elected office.

I agree, its like some of our Northern Ireland MPs who get elected then refuse to take up their place in Parliament, they still take the money though.Been watching TV and noting the Democrats have now shut down the US Gov't refusing to vote. Re: What are you doing today?
Somewhere politicians start to forget that they were ELECTED into a JOB and failing to show up to vote isn't doing any sort of job. I don't care HOW you vote but you better darn well VOTE coz that is what you were elected to do. Failing to show up is just dereliction of duty so IMO you should be GONE!

Re: What are you doing today?
I think I might buy a new small vacuum cleaner. I accidentally tipped the first filter into the rubbish when I emptied the box a few months ago - not the first time either But I was poorly at the time - of course I only noticed after the bin men had been. Last time was couple of years ago and found that they no longer make vacuums but still sent me a spare bless them. I think I'm out of luck now though.
I really need one upstairs and one downstairs because of the dangers involved in carrying it up and down if it's the size of the old Dyson I have at the moment - weighs a ton and the Victorian stairs are incredibly steep with very narrow treads.
The floors are tiled or wood mainly on the ground floor only the middle room is carpeted. So it's been back to a broom and dustpan and brush. Unfortunately the problem with the left arm is making this more difficult - the little vacs are quite cheap so think I will invest.

I have two vacuum cleaners - one upstairs and one down. They are ordinary bag less upright ones. There's no way I can be doing with carrying one of them up and down stairs! I also have a handheld Dirtbuster for doing the stairs.

Re: What are you doing today?
Glad you like Mrs Wabbit, Horus! She really does live at the top of the stairs and I made her quite a few years ago now, but folk are always amazed when they lift her skirt and see a vacuum cleaner!

Lovely Wabbit RS but definitely a terrific idea to disguise her like that. My vacuum sits in the garage actually and I use it as a guage as to how far forward I can pull the car when I drive into the garage.

Re: What are you doing today?
I'm multi-tasking. I'm writing this while watching Homes Under the Hammer and waiting for tramadol to kick in.
I had an unexpectedly very long walk a couple of days ago and thought I'd be like a plank by today. I was as mobile as possible yesterday on the move up and down the stairs, cleaning etc. plus sitting down exercises and it seems to have worked. Now to keep up the good work
Off I go, have a lovely day folks!

I will be glad to get outside and have a nice walk, the weather has been so cold, wet and miserable of late that I have no desire to even go through the door.
