Mubarak to step down tonight
It is widely speculated that he will step down tonight after NBC reported that the military has made that promise, this is being reported on Al Jazeera TV.

I would be inclined to be in the camp of " seeing is believing " i also am thinking that ok, even if he steps down this soon, would that be in body only , or would it be that he will rule from a distance, just for now, would he not have stepped down already if he actually wanted to , he has people like his faithful Suliman, his Army Generals to rely on .....................mmm suspicious old bag thats me
Is it not more a case of only handing over so much, toddling off for a while then popping back up when things are calmer in Tahrir Square .............

I'm echoing Christine's skepticism and I truly truly hope and pray this is not going to be a case of jumping from the fat into the fire. To a certain extent this almost seems too easy. 18 days and you leave after 30 years?
Don't get me wrong I'm ecstatic this has happened relatively peacefully. The discipline of the Protestors is something to write about in the history books. I hope this 'holds' and has a true fairy tale ending that benefits all the people of Egypt and isn't just a rouse or a ploy to institute something deeper entrenched and more oppressive.
