Woodspirit

Post by LovelyLadyLux »

We have a local young fellow who is developing his career as a wood carver. He sometimes struggles as 'art' isn't high on anybodies list these days of things to buy so sometimes he struggles and probably his hardest task is to acquire old growth cedar.

Had this delivered today and it is now sitting on my back deck. I can see him through the back window and he looks quite fantastic.

Over time the beard will grey out to make him look more like an old man.

Quite happy with this and it really finally creates a focal point for the back deck. Got them to lower and lift down the plants that were up high on a table and will ultimately move the plants around this to make it look more natural.

Thanks - and am sure the young fellow who does these would thank you too. His dad was a Master Carver in this area and he is learning (I'd gues-timate he is early 20ies) and this particular one is his forte. He calls them his Woodspirits.

Hard being an artist these days but he was delivering 2 more to somewhere else so his art is moving. This one is old growth cedar so should last long beyond me ;)
