Re: GRANDADS WILDLIFE CORNER
I wonder if the Bluetits will want a strata development? And, with any birds I've often wondered how far from the original nest they will ever really go? I know some migrate but I think they're returning to the relative same area.

Re: GRANDADS WILDLIFE CORNER
They have now been out for three days and are still around learning to feed on the feeders. The parents are still keeping an eye on them and feeding them. I believe that the new birds will come back next breeding time. It has been really enjoyable watching them this year and the parents have worked SO hard.
The robin continues to get more and more bold. Whenever I go out back he pesters me for some food. He has landed on most of my body but will still not take food from my hand. I took this one this afternoon when he decided to beg from my other camera which was on the tripod.
I expect he thought Christmas had come when I put the mealworm box down and let him help himself.

Re: GRANDADS WILDLIFE CORNER
You robin definitely is BOLD! I always though our BlueJays were curious and saucy but nothing compared to your robin.
As a word of warning Grandad - once he DOES start landing in your hand and eating your mealworms he is going to demand more. Hope you're prepared to start BBQing pork chops and steaks! AND just wait 'til he acquires a family - WOW!!! You and Grandma will have a full time job cooking for them.......you better hope they don't tell all their friends.

Re: GRANDADS WILDLIFE CORNER
Lovely photo of your robin Grandad must just be a myth that once you see a robin it is the sign of winter/snow coming.

Robins are here all the year round, Kiya. It's just that we don't notice them in Summer so much because of all the lush foliage. Lovely photo, Grandad! a real reward for all your patience!

I do hope Horus looks in because he had a lot to do with my choice of a second camera and I just can't fault it.

Re: GRANDADS WILDLIFE CORNER
Changed our mind about today but will go next good day during the week. These places get very busy at weekends. The one we will head for is Bodiam Castle. It is a square castle with a moat in typical Norman style, much like Dover castle and our own in Canterbury. All in the same style but not all with a moat. Very different to your castles Kiya.
Will tell you a little about it when we go there.

Re: GRANDADS WILDLIFE CORNER
I guess summer must have passed and I missed it. Into October today or at least it feels like it.
In my wildlife corner I think all the nests have now fledged. Robins, blackbirds, bluetits and great tits have all been seen in the bushes with their young fledglings. The cubs are growing and the runt is now doing fine with a full brush now grown. I thing there are two vixen cubs and two dog cubs. The smaller vixens stay with dad and dogs with mum.
It was after nine and almost dark under the trees last evening but I have put together a short series of video clips so that you can see all members of the family. (The limit of 5Mb means this is very short)

Until Horus or Keefy can sort or delete the post, try this.
Click once on the file name 'Untitled.wmv' at the bottom left of the attachment panel. This file may then download to your computer (look for the file name in bottom left corner of your screen) Click this filename once and, on my computer at least, it opens up the video in the Windows Media Player screen.
