Re: GIMP DISCUSSIONS
Just an update on my problems H. My extra RAM that I ordered yesterday pm arrived at 12 noon today....now that is what I call service and three cheers for Crucial. That is now in and running.....
I think I have pinned down my 'booting off' problem. It happened today when I was exiting Google Chrome and I got a message that it needed to close but as I was in the process of opening Word the whole system didn't close down. Then later I was going into ebay and it did the total shut down job.
I am now convinced that it is something to do with Chrome so I am about to uninstall it and re-install.....See you later......maybe
Edit: Back again, done that, now we will see if that has cured the problem.

Re: GIMP DISCUSSIONS
I've managed to do a quicky with Frames & Text, I got the Saltire from Google images then added the different sizes of frames using the Picker Tool for the Blue frames, then I added the text which was ok but then I remembered from college days I liked the Papyrus font so added that instead of plain text.

Re: GIMP DISCUSSIONS
Grandad, glad you are sorted now, lets hope that does the job.
Kiya, another excellent effort you are really putting your lessons into practice, very nice borders to go with it and can you see what I mean about using the 'picker' tool to match your colour back to the main image, it always looks good done that way.
Nice to see that you have the text sorted out pretty well, I had not noticed if it had the Papyrus font in Gimp, I know I have it in Photoshop, or did you import the font into Gimp? There is still abit more about text to learn, although I want to skip onto another Gimp feature first, but that feature will also come in useful for applying certain types of text.

Also added, Using the GRID option in GIMP (Part 2 Basics)
That should keep you busy for a short while Kiya, please post your result, just the lines and background nothing else.

Re: GIMP DISCUSSIONS
Now I'm stuck!....I get as far as having the blue background with the red grid lines & ready with the white paintbrush & I come to a standstill , I've no idea where to start with the painbrush or where to end, when I do try I just get very shaky lines...................I'm sure there is a easy way to get from A - B with straight lines ....................& to cap them off
HELP !

Re: GIMP DISCUSSIONS
There is just wanted to see if you would struggle with this part or not, but don't worry most people would.
All will become much clearer and a lot easier when I post the second part sometime tomorrow.

Re: GIMP DISCUSSIONS
I have just spent a useful hour or so sorting all my prints of Horus's tutorials including the earlier ones about stained glass and fire etc. Putting them all in order, numbering and referencing them, and filing them 2 sheets at a time in transparent sleeves.....I was feeling pretty pleased with myself that I now had a reference in which I could find things.
I log on and there is yet another to copy and file. I'm not complaining Horus because I am finding all the tutorials invaluable, just need a bit of time to start experimenting with them.
Good job the winter months are upon us and I look forward to, hopefully, doing something a little creative.....................that is if Kiya would stop pushing you for more and more on the use of Gimp
