No choices Kiya, the list is everything you will be doing

For your part you will need a suitable picture of your own and to be able to take a macro picture with your own camera, nothing too difficult, just a close up.

It is just to make it more interesting to everyone as they will be making and using all their own pictures, but I can supply posted pictures for copying and use by anyone who has a problem. ;)

Another Gold star for headgirl Kiya. Thanks again H for doing these tutorials - I might not be doing them at the moment but hopefully will get to 'play' before too long.

If anyone is intending to have a go at this next tutorial, can you have a look through your albums for a suitable picture to use and if you open it in your programme you can go to IMAGE then > IMAGE SIZE and in the 'Image Size' dialogue box that appears next, you will see its physical size displayed.

For example my Barge picture was 3648 pixels Wide by 2736 pixels High.
If you make a note of what size it is and post it on here for me to see,(the size not the picture) it will help me to use suitable brush sizes etc, in the tutorial. :)

Thank you both :) no there is no need to resize your pictures. ;)

You both are using pictures with a 1.5 to 1 ratio so I can work around that.

I see that our Head Girl has already done stage one of the new tutorial :) She was so exited that she posted it in the wrong thread, but never mind, I can delete that one later so it doesn't clutter my tutorial thread up. ;)

However, you have done extremely well Kiya if you have done that part already, either I am getting better at teaching you, or you are getting cleverer, I think it is the latter myself. ;)

So I had better get my finger out and post the second part of it.

Oops Sorry Mr. Tutor....2 mistakes already........my post in wrong place & I've chosen the wrong pic to work with, I chose an old photo with help from my wee grandson last night.....not a macro.
With my wee grandson watching what I was doing today with tutorial I'll blame him for losing my concentration just a touch . ;)

I cant say it was easy I had to redo some parts a couple of times

Not sure what you mean by wrong photo Kiya :?:
the picture that you choose to use for the tutorial (in my case the Barge picture) does not have to be a Macro, any old Jpeg picture will do. :)
The only time that macro will come into it, is when I ask you to take a Macro or Close Up picture to use as part of the project.

As I said already not in full concentration when theres a little 1 at your side watching what your doing & asking a thousand & 1 questions ;)
I don't know why but while doing the tutorial today I just thought it had to be a Macro thats why I'd written thought I'd made 2 mistakes.
Ok no harm done....phew!

My finished crumpled photo, obviously I chose the wrong photo to work with as you'll see at top of finished photo the sea from original is faded more.
An interesting project to do nontheless :)

My original
1917

My finished photo
1918

Photos had to be resized for forum & is distorting the numbers on the bigger boat

Well done Kiya, :br: you have created the effect brilliantly. I can tell by looking at your picture that the only mistake you have made is to choose the wrong picture for your central theme, this has allowed the crumpled texture to show through in too much of the picture. While the ‘showing through’ effect is desirable, it needs to be mainly visible around the edges as seen very nicely in your picture and be less visible in the main picture area. Unfortunately because of the chosen picture containing lots of sea and sky, the effect is a bit overdone as the ‘Crumple’ tends to show more in these areas.

However the folded paper lines and the curved edges are really good, as is the ageing of the whole picture towards a Sepia tone. Had you chosen a different theme picture the outcome would have been excellent, but as the initial objective was to create the crumpled and creased paper effect, to have succeeded with top marks, so a 10/10 score for technical achievement. Also in fairness to yourself, when I asked you to select a picture of your own you did not know about these potential pitfalls, so the fault is really mine for not pointing this out to you sooner. Anyway a brilliant job and I hope you give it another go using a different picture and see what a difference it makes.

Remember that you can still use the CREASE LINE picture and the CRUMPLE picture together with the TEXTURE background for your new picture and go through the same steps as you did previously, the only thing you may have to do is resize and tweak a few sizes to suit your new choice of theme picture. :D

Quick edit: I fancy that the 'Old Dock' picture you posted on here some time back may lend itself very nicely to this effect. ;)

To be honest I was just trying to be a smart alick with the choice of pic, thinking ahead with crease lines I thought with the space between the 2 boats the lines wouldn't spoil the pic.......ha!! I forgot the horizontal lines
Thank you for my 10/10 :D now I have to seach for the old dock, that seems a better choice :)
