Thanks! Board walk is a real common term in this neck of the woods. Cedar trees are plentiful and cause we get so much rain making sidewalks out of 'boards' is a very common practice. Historically or traditionally (or at least when I was a kid) to strengthen the wood and slow down rotting the wood was charred (burned) and then scaped. It will last forever that way. Nowadays there is different chemical paints and stains and heavens knows what applied and pressure treated.
There is quite a movement, in Canada, to preserve woodlands, wet lands, sea shores - everything. Board walks are made and people and pets are encouraged to stay on them so as not to trample down the natural grounds.
Alpine meadows which are thousands of years old and very fragile often have these board walks. Up in the mountains (Mt. Washington of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada) http://www.superstock.com/stock-photos- ... 1990-35495 are Paradise Meadows. It is sooo beautiful and ancient. To keep it pristine boardwalks wind through and it is expected everybody stays on the board walk paths. Makes walking easier to many as well.

Boardwalk of Grandad
That is a lovely photo Grandad. We have boardwalks here on the beaches as the sand gets hot in summer - most of them lead to the beach cafes Oh happy days - -

This photo isn't exactly a boardwalk shot but it is of a park called La Vega which is in Trinidad. Gorgeous place. When you enter you go through a horticultural area where they are commercially growing all variety of orchids and other tropical plants. Lots of aquariums full of gold fish and other tropicals too.
This lake is stocked with Tilapia and other fishes. Was a beautiful day - restful and relaxin' in the Caribbean.

Re: SHARE YOUR PICTURE
Thought I'd resurrect this post in efforts to get everybody 'sharing their pictures'.......I quite enough seeing the pictures of others even if they are not specific to a special thread.........IF you've taken a photo here is where you can 'share it' just coz

Re: SHARE YOUR PICTURE
The only problem with resurrecting this quite old thread is that the forum's technical side has changed, that means all the old photographs will not display as the codes are all different now. It would take me too long to re-code all the previous pictures again, so it will be better just to start a new thread if you want to.

Re: SHARE YOUR PICTURE
Correct Keefy, I deleted some because I had used my, then, 250 image allocation and as they were old I didn't think they needed to be there any longer.

Re: SHARE YOUR PICTURE
Ohhhhhhh didn't realize that OLD POSTS wouldn't show. I was looking last night for the "Stained Glass Windows" thread as I remembered it as being popular. While I was looking I saw this thread and thought that as there is interest in photography and it would be neat to have a thread for photots 'just cause' - in other words - if you've taken a good photo, interesting photo, any photo - feel free to post it WITHOUT having to think up a whole new Topic.
Personally I like looking at what other people are taking pictures of and finding interesting and I was thinking that some might be hesitant to post their photos cause they can't find a specific category or topic to associate them with (and/or they don't want to bother writing up an entire explanation) soooooo I was thinking this would be just a "Share your Photo" thread........

Re: SHARE YOUR PICTURE
Really nice photo Keefy and that is really good detail coming from a cell phone camera. I've never had one (camera in a phone) so have no basis of comparison of what old phone photos looked like to the better ones now.
Very serene and lush looking photo.......wish I was there.......
