Three Egyptian policemen wounded and tens of protesters unconscious as clashes intensify in Cairo's downtown street Qasr El-Aini, following protesters bringing down police wall.
Clashes intensified between riot police and protesters who broke down parts of the concrete block wall at Cairo's downtown street Qasr El-Aini, leaving three policemen injured and tens of protesters unconscious on Thursday.
The three policemen were transferred to the hospital.
The Police arrested two protesters who took part in bringing down the wall in Qasr El-Aini near Tahrir Square on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier today, Egyptian riot police used tear gas with tens of protesters who brought down the wall that bans protesters from reaching the Egyptian Parliament and Cabinet Council building. Protesters threw Molotov cocktails on police forces during the clashes.
In response many protesters moved to Cairo's Tahrir Square to avoid the tear gas.
The wall was built in November 2012 during Cairo's downtown street Mohamed Mahmoud's commemoration where clashes took place between Egypt's Central Security Forces (CSF) and protesters.
Around 47 peaceful protesters were killed in November 2012 during prolonged street clashes that erupted after Egypt's CSF violently dispersed a sit-in in Cairo's Tahrir Square.

It was always on the cards to happen, there is just something about this lot in power that a lot of Egyptians object to so this was inevitable.

Given recent past history of the Mubarak era, the hopes that spurred the Arab Spring and the resultant democratically elected crew I'm not optimistic that lots more very sad and tragic outcomes won't be had.

Re: Clashes intensify in downtown near Tahrir Square
We now have the football rivalry to add to this potent mix, today a court in Cairo has sentenced 20 odd people to death for their part in the riot that led to 70 people being killed during a football match. Egypt must be unique in the fact that football supporters are also a political force and apart from Argentina I can't think of anywhere else that this happens, so now we can expect more violence as the Port Said supporters clash with the people of Cairo who they will see as politically opposed to themselves and executing their supporters. It has all the potential of moving on from a football riot to a full blown clash of two sectors of the Egyptian people, so far this revolution is going from bad to worse and the divisions are growing daily.

Re: Clashes intensify in downtown near Tahrir Square
Now let me get this right:
The actual riot kills 74 people
They are going to execute 21 people for their part in it.
Protest riots have already claimed another 27 dead (with more to follow I’m sure)
There are still another 52 who have not yet had there sentences handed out.
So more riots and deaths are saved up for around March, just as it is about to quieten down a tad and the total executions and protest riot related deaths will probably outnumber the original death toll.
But best of all a woman outside the Cairo court cries out “god is great” after hearing the verdict, if he were so great then this would not have happened in the first place, religious fools.
Bring back the Dictator, Egypt really needs one just to keep it stable.

This is just a random thought..........does a country and society who believes in ONE and ONLY one God more readily accept a Dictator than does a country & society that adheres to a democratic process?

To accept any religious teaching is to accept the rule of the worlds biggest dictators, regardless of which ever faith you choose to follow.

I agree H. Without any level of study about this it sure seems to be this way. The why? Early acceptance of a complete authority with a family structure that is patterned basically the same way and instilled over decades.
Begs the question as to what it will take for this to change??
