Which book would you most recommend for a first time visitor to Egypt so that they could plan ahead to make the most of thier trip?[/face]

When I did my trekking all over Egypt, I was never without a Lonely Planet in my bag. I tried The Rough Guide - but for some reason it just wasn't for me. I did also have one other book - can't think what it was called and it's right at the back of the cupboard so I can't get to it easily - sure it was something called The Blue Guide? Sound familiar to anyone? It was a bit bigger than the Lonely Planet one - but had all sorts of useful background in which made it really useful.

My current Lonely Planet is 10 years old and covered in scrawl and my own personal notes and updates - that's why I haven't picked up a new one yet - but I might be forced to pick one up next time I'm in Down Town Alex, as the phone numbers and rough prices for hotels are way out of date now.

Lonely Planet is a great general guide - but when I go to new places, I take my 1929 Baedeker - it puts modern guidebooks to shame in that it gives full descriptions of wall paintings etc in tombs and temples.
