We will delete the posts every now and again so it does not get too long

Guests can post in the Suggestions and Help Enquiries section but their posts will not be seen till a moderator appoves the posts (this is to stop spam and unwanted posts).

This last lot was was using the Ctrl and several photos, still only 5 photos, not to worry at least I have it working I think

Try the Gallery way like grandad did, you have better control of positioning your photos.

Everyone is getting there
Now we know a bit more about the posting methods lets just recap on what works.
1. I now know that as forum Admin I am allowed to post many more images, but you are limited to 5 only using the method I described to you for ''Drag & Drop' and not 20 plus as in my explanation, still a very good and quick method though.

2. The main drawback of the 'Drag & Drop' method is that it always puts the images one below the other, but still a quick way if just adding a couple or more images in your post.

3. If you wish to have more control as to where you place your images ie side by side, or you want to add more than 5 images then it is best to add those images to the Gallery, either your own album or a topical one.

4. When adding from the albums you MUST click on the images TITLE and not just the picture and then copy the BBcode in the
(middle) box that appears below in the next window. Just do a normal 'copy' of the code and then paste that into your text box. This applies if you are replying to a post or creating a new one.

5. As Keefy suggested it will help if you open onother window for the album (you will now have two Egypt4U on your desktop) in one you can open up the Gallery and in the other your reply or new text box will be open. By clicking between the two windows you can add lots of images, but each BBcode must be copied and pasted into your text window.

I think that sums it up well H I got there in the end with my long post after a few hiccups. Anyone not used to working with two windows open, just remember to click the top tab of the one you want to work with to make it live, then click the other tab if you are copying from one window and pasting into the other..

I think we are all learning, in particular inserting pictures into posts and, in my case, viewing pictures in posts.
I believe I can now find my way around the various methods of uploading pictures. I like the quick drag and drop for up to five pictures. For more than five I am happy to upload to my album and then copy and paste the BBcode which now seems to work well.
One problem I had to find my way around was viewing pictures in posts. When we click on a thumbnail in the post the image enlarges in a new window. At first I thought that you would just click the cross in the top right corner BUT NO, that takes you out altogether. I then saw the little cross to the right below the image which takes you back to the post.

Ok the photo above I uploaded is from my Album on here, I was getting in a muddle a few times trying to have 2 Egypt4u on my desktop.
I'm not sure how I managed it, opening 1 Egypt4u and the text box where I wanted the photo to go, then I opened another Egypt4u and Gallery and my own Album, ok I got the bbc code copied and went back to text box and pasted the photo......good but, I seemed to have to go click back back back till I got the text box again.

It seemed a lot to do to get 1 photo up .

Kiya, just as long as you have opened 2 versions of E4U then you should have 2 clickable buttons at the top of your screen, one will be black and the other one will be white. The one that is white is the current 'Open' window, if you click the 'Black' button then it will turn white and become the current window and you will see the other button turn black. Do not click on the little cross as it will just close that window down again. So providing you opened your second E4U window and navigated to your album (or the album you wanted to be in) it should be a simple matter of clicking the button that takes you to the album, then choosing a picture and copying the BBcode, now click the 'Black' button at the top and it will open up your text window in the other E4U window. Just do a 'Paste' of the copied BBcode into the text box, now click the 'Black' button at the top again and it will take you back to the Album window, you can keep doing this as many times as you like, so no need to keep going Back, back back.
Basically the buttons at the top will change colour depending if they are the visible or the non visible window

@Grandad The image opens in the same window, you have to click the back button to go back to the post you are reading.

Gallery

Advantages:
You can upload 10 images at a time
You can add as many images as you want to a single post
People can view your images in your Album
Members can comment on single images in the Gallery
Members can rate your images

Disadvantages:
Images in posts open in the same window (back button to return to post)
Copying and pasting of the BBCode for each image

Attachments

Advantages:
Its quick and easy way to add images
Images pop-up from the post, clicking on the image shows the next image

Disadvantages:
Only 5 images can be uploaded
The images can only be seen in a post
Images open in the same windows (back button to return back to the post)

On another subject...

Mention a Member in a post

To mention a member in a post type the @ key followed by the member name a box should pop up listing the members name, click this, some BBCode tags should now surround the members name like in the code below.

If the @ key method does not work and you dont get a pop-up with the members name, then you can use another method, just click on the Mention BBCode button, and then type the members username in between the BBCode tags, like in the example code above

If you preview your post first the members name should show in RED

Keefy, on the old format we had a shortcut button to get back to the top of a thread which I found very useful.
We don't seem to have that or have I not yet found it?
