Given up now!!!!!

Post by Kiya »

After doing everything yesterday Keefy suggested with Avant I'm now getting a pop up box saying BLOCKED URL(S) on each topic I open on the green side, it dosen't happen on blue/red side or any other site...........I've no idea if this pop up is supposed to show??

IE seems to be a mess & Aol, the dreaded random words highlighted leading to unwanted sites have appeared again!! & only on the green side.

Its not for the want of trying but, time now to call in the experts...........I've had enough!! :x

OK Kiya,

Just untick: Enable AD Blocker and untick: Block unwanted pop-up pages

Normally these are unticked for me, i sometimes tick them back on when looking at sites with lots of AD's etc.

Ok that done but may still have to get an expert in to have a look , as far as I'm aware the highlighted random words leading to unwanted sites & adverts could be a virus on my computer. :? I dunno!

From what you were telling me previously Kiya, you do have some kind of virus on your PC that is redirecting you to other sites and advertisements, you did tell me the name of it when I got you to run a scan, can you remember what it was called?
You probably need some hands on assistance to get rid of it :)
Keep looking in and if BillH sees this he may be able to help you with it ;)

From what the others are saying it does sound like a browser hi-jack.

Go here
http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?i ... 666f809b26

It's a program named Malwarebytes Anti Malware. simply Download the program, run the update and run the program and delete all the entries it finds. You will probably have to re-boot to remove all the Malware.

Hope this helps.. :)

HOTBAR provides many useless utilities. In itself, it is not an exploit as such, as you must have agreed to install it.
HOWEVER... It has the ability to draw in all sorts of rubbish.
If you have HOTBAR, I guarantee you there will be other exploits.
trouble is these exploits are so badly written, they can screw up your web browser, rather than just "subtly" redirect it to other sites.
If you are running Windows, make sure WINDOWS UPDATES are bang up to date, as they can plug some of your security loopholes.

If you have any difficulty downloading Malwarebytes, give me a shout and I will send it to your e-mail address.

Did a full scan this morning with the link from Bill taking 2hrs 23mins, it showed:
Objects Infected: 10
I clicked on “Show Results”:
Trojan.Zlob…..1
Pup.funwebp……… …1
Pup.playshusi…….. …8…………..no idea what these are?
Couldn’t see anywhere to “delete” so
Clicked on “Remove Selected” showed “could not remove Malwarebytes” carried on & when asked restart computer………I did
Blueside/redside working fine & all other sites………………greenside really took a dislike to me!!!!!!..............really strange!!!!!!
Shortcut icon for Malwarebytes now on desktop.
I tried earlier to submit a few times but the page asking me to log in came up.................with AOL
now with Avant............lets see if it will submit.

Kiya, this link will explain what the Zlob Trojan actually is.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zlob_trojan
It seems to fit all the symptoms you are having.

The ‘pup.whatever’ are again backdoor Trojans that will redirect you to other unwanted sites.

Keep running the Malaware program that Bill linked you to, do it for as long as it takes to get the ‘No infections found’ message and keep deleting anything that it finds.
I am sure that when he gets back online Bill will have done some more research to help you.

Kiya,

I have been having problems on this site today, but after 5 mins or so the site came back. That was at work as well. so I do think there are still some underlying site issues causing problems here on the green side..
So it is possible that if your computer is working OK elsewhere then your problem is fixed..

It wont do any harm for the engineer to take a look.
Keep Malwarebytes up to date before scanning, and scan every week, or if you suspect an issue, it is the best program out there to remove exploits.
Also ensure your Anti Virus is up to date as well, first thing each day before collecting your e-mails and browsing the web.

I agree with that Bill :) and also about the site becoming slower at times.
I have a sneaky suspicion that Keefy has swapped the servers over to appease the Blue side and we have now got the duff one, we never had a problem up until they had their latest problem fixed ;) Ah well

Thanks to a lot of help from Bill when I was having problems several months ago I have been free of problems since then.

I now do a weekly maintenance that involves; a registry clean, clean out the 'temp' folder, run Malwarebytes, then update my back-up drive. My virus protection checks all the time for updates and applies them automatically.

I also, with Bills suggestion, keep my start up to a minimum by unchecking most of the lines in 'msconfig', start up. That may take a little while to find out what really needs to open at start up.
