Poetry

I have never been an avid reader but have always enjoyed poetry which I find a very expressive literary form. Just recently, for some vague reason, my wife quoted the first two lines of 'Leisure' by William H Davies which are: What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare? ...

Re: Is everybody getting vaccinated?

My family members are reporting 'cold like' symptoms of a sore throat and runny nose. It must be Omicron and not so severe as the earlier mutations. As for my family members, I missed out at least one and of my immediate family including grandkids partners, 7 of 20 have had the virus. None were ser...

Re: Is everybody getting vaccinated?

We had our boosters around last June. All our vaccs have been Pfizer. So far we have had our daughter, oldest son, two granddaughters and their partners, and our great grandson have caught the virus. Our daughter is the last to isolate and that finishes today. I simply cannot understand the anti-va...

Nothing exciting like that LLL. Mostly farm labourers, seafarers, servants or living in workhouses. I'm from very humble beginnings. ;)

Re: Covid

Snow LLL? None here so far in the south but they have had some further north. Temperatures still keeping above freezing with only occasional frost. Folks in the north of the UK may paint a different picture. :ni: Yes, covid is becoming a bore and the main news item for nearly 2 years. We still have...

New Year, New Genealogy search

We last went to Egypt in 2013, we won't be going ever again and, mostly due to the pandemic, nobody else is going......apart from Russians flying into Hurgharda, but that's not REAL EGYPT; is it??? Contributing here is something I miss; the lighthearted chat about what has been keeping us occupied ...

Re: Seasons Greetings Everyone

bigken OMG BK, I just HAD to reply. My three are all older than you BUT, happy to report that our daughter became a grandma last August and we became great grandparents for the first time. He is a lovely little lad, nearly 6 months now, and we are pretty proud of that event. Great to be able to hav...

bigken All the Grandad, hope all is well Good to see you BK, still taking great pictures? And any plans for some exotic holiday this year? We are still ticking along, getting older but I passed 87 a few weeks ago and that is older than anyone in my family tree. I have had to give up taking pictures...

Re: Happy Easter!

There you go RS, some of us DO still look in but, as LLL said, there is nothing much to talk about, with more than a year of varying degrees of lockdown. But I echo your best wishes for Easter to you and anyone else who looks in. Maybe when we get over this damned Covid things might come back to lif...

Spring again (Part 1)

Something to chat about other than CV19. I have said before that I am NOT a gardener but we do like a few pots around the "Courtyard" to make it a more pleasant place to relax in. Nearly everything is now set for the summer including some tomatoes which, although only about half a metre t...

Re: Are you all bored yet?

Hello ladies. I see it is about two weeks since I last checked in and like everybody we continue to be mostly housebound. In my opinion the numbers for new CV19 cases and deaths is still far too high to begin any serious easement UNLESS they can seriously start to pin down the areas and reasons for...

Re: Are you all bored yet?

Hello RS and everyone else. My wife feels much like you RS with regards to being housebound. We last went to do the weekly shopping together on 12 March. Since then her only excursion outside the house was on Sunday 29 March for an eye appointment and injection in her eye. Since our last trip to Sa...

Re: MEGXIT

It seems that Mexit like Brexit doesn't rate as news right now. As I have said before re Mexit, good riddance. As for Brexit there is work to be done but that is on hold and no doubt another extension will be requested. I do hope Boris pulls through, I don't see Raab as a very inspiring replacement,...

One Day More

As this has gone viral on Youtube you have probably seen it.
If not it is a brilliant take on the current lockdown by a family in Faversham.

Laughter and tears I think ;)

Hello again

Hello folks, just thought I would look in and see how you are all fairing. Self imposed isolation I expect like Mrs G and me. Not much different for us because, apart from at weekends, we seldom see anyone in the week and only go to Sainsburys on Thursdays for the bulk of the weekly shopping. Even ...
