I hope you had a good Xmas Grandad. Sorry I haven't looked in for so long I missed your post but just saw it referred to on L4U which I occasionally look at.
Happy new year to you and anybody else who looks in

Re: Well that's a new one on me!
RS that is the trouble with Amazon sometimes. But we have been very pleased with Amazon France so far but we do compare the costs as some items are much cheaper in the UK even allowing for postage here. Our SatNav has just died and the new one, arrives tomorrow from Amazon UK & including postage...

Well that's a new one on me!
Barry ordered some tee shirts from Amazon France and 1 wasn't the one he ordered so he contacted them. They agreed a refund and emailed him a free return label to print off. He just has to stick the label on the outside of the parcel, go online to request collection & leave it in our postbox wit...

Ironing in that heat you must have really needed that quilt binding!
Temp dropped a bit here but horribly humid with the threat of thunderstoms but not actually getting them.

Re: Who needs Egypt when......
I'm the opposite, 5am is my sleeping time. My problem is going to sleep, normally if I'm still awake by 2 I get up for a bath for an hour & then finally go to sleep, or else I wake at 2 for 2 - 3 hours.
Glad DH is finding shopping OK now.
Another scorcher today, how is it everywhere else?

Re: Who needs Egypt when......
It is normally holiday season but not sure what will happen this year. The campsite in the village is open but probably only half the normal number of people in it. Roads are not very busy either although there are quite a few Dutch reg plates around and we are seeing a few more GB plates, I think t...

Re: Is anyone still alive out there?
Still here! Like you MD spending a lot of time in the garden. Picking fruit, the tayberries & early raspberries have nearly finished now & the late haven't started. The thornless blackberry is slowing down but has given us just over 4kg of fruit, not bad for 1 plant :D Spent this morning cov...

Will we ever get used to being close to others again?
Last week we were in Poitiers & while I was waiting for Barry I walked to the garden centre & somebody was coming towards me & he stepped into the road to pass me. The next person passed me at a more restricted bit of pavement but we both automatically turned our faces away from each oth...

Re: What a difference a fortnight makes!
Weird I have just looked and thought it's ages since anybody posted. Sorry about your freezer RS, I know the UK shops seem to be making a massive killing on them. Not sure whether I said before but my son's had broken down late last year & not been replaced & at the beginning of the lockdown...

Re: Spring again (Part 2)
That is very pretty LLL. Mine has a few shoots from the bottom which I tend to cut off so as not to weaken it even more. Maybe I will let one of them grow on and see how it does. Maybe it can replace the original dying off bits, anybody any thoughts?

Re: Are you all bored yet?
RS I should definitely try some some fruit in your tubs. It is lovely to go out and pick fresh. Had tayberries and strawberries from the garden last night. The wild strawberries are still going strong but back breaking picking them as they have just taken over the area they were in which is about 3 ...

Re: Spring again (Part 2)
Those pots look wonderful in the Courtyard Grandad. We have a very sorry lilac LLL. It was tidied up a couple of years ago by a tree surgeon, he did say at the time he was worried as the centre of the trunks were all hollow when he cut into it, but we hoped it would be OK. Last year was exceptionall...

Re: Are you all bored yet?
Good to see you Grandad & it was lovely to see your foxes again. Those tomatoes look really good and strong. We have said throughout how appallingly badly the whole pandemic has been handled in the UK. We may not have enjoyed the daily forms and restrictions here but they worked and we are now c...

Re: Are you all bored yet?
 RS are you able to get out into a garden at least? I can't imagine not getting out into mine. That is very difficult for you not being able to get to the funeral but at least online is better than nothing. Must admit have never made clafoutis, but we can buy them in the local supermarkets, we...

Re: Are you all bored yet?
MD we still have pensions paid into the UK and transfer funds every so often using a factoring company (get better rates that way ;) ). Maybe you can do the same or even make the pension transfer arrangements from Ibiza, either online or by phone? I love kumquats but as you say they are fiddly. I us...

Re: Are you all bored yet?
Wow RS you have been productive. I have managed about 1 hour of cross stitch and that was it. That was only because it was too hot to do any gardening! Had rain Monday, first for weeks so very welcome for the garden but a shame it coincided with the first day after lockdown ended so no walk! ...

Re: Are you all bored yet?
Hello to you too. We have been very busy in the garden. At least the lockdown has given us plenty of time too work out there. As it is a fairly new garden there is still a lot to do. The metalwork on the light fitting in the dining room was pretty tatty so we replaced it but I loved the shape of the...

For me the only member of the cabinet that inspires any confidence is Rishi Sunak, poor devil became Chancellor of the Exchequer at what is probably the worst time ever for that post. He seems to have really stepped up and taken decisions.

Re: Hello again
Glad you are keeping busy and isolated LL. Still can't get my head round the panic buying it is so selfish! UK council workers were taking pictures of huge amount of food out in bins, often still wrapped that had gone over after being stockpiled! :xx Glad to say none of that here in France. Was even...
