You can add video up to 10 meg but it wont show like before in a player like on the old forum, it just makes it into a downloadable file :(

So the best way is to upload to youtube, no limit on filesize and resolution :)

Grandad, I am sure that on the old forum we could upload MP4 clips but the biggest problem was file size. Your file is quite small so I see no reason it won't upload, I just tried a 5MB MP4 and had the same problem, I also tried a Windows Media file, but I got the 'file too large' message which was to be expected as they are not compressed as much. It is not something I have done on this version of the forum and to be honest I cannot find out where the file types and sizes are mentioned, perhaps I am having a 'Doh' day, I will ask Keefy to look into it. :up

@Horus
I tried as you describe H but nothing seemed to hapen even after 30 minutes. When I went to preview there is a message against the file name saying 'Not Downloaded Yet' Could it be that MP4 is not a recognised file type?

Grandad, you need to be in 'Full Editor' mode, then go below the bottom of the reply box and select 'Attachments' Now select 'Add Files' and then select the file on your desktop. You should also select the option 'Place Inline' and it should appear in the text box between the Attachment brackets. You may have to wait a while for the file to upload before it becomes visible in the Preview mode. :up

@Horus @DJKeefy
I have a small vidio clip reduced to 3mb in MP4. Horus or Keefy, can you tell me how I can add this to a post. The file is on my desktop so I could drag and drop but that doesn't work???

Not sure if this 1 will work , it is some photos of the Northern Lights from around Scotland.

Horus Gotcha I did wonder why 2 youtubes were at the end.

Ok checked with preview & its working.

Good advice Keefy, I always preview any posts with pictures or video links in them before I submit them, this saves a lot of hassle because if it does not work in preview then it will not work when you press submit
That is why I knew that my own video links for my updated Petra Travelogue was not working when I asked the original question.

Dont forget, if your not sure if something is going to work, press the preview button first, if something is wrong then you can keep editing your post and pressing the preview button till you get it right, when your happy with the preview, then press submit

Kiya, you nearly had it right, I just did a quick edit on your post to make the link work.
Make sure that you Highlight the link that you pasted, BEFORE you click on the 'YouTube' button, you should then see [YouTube] in front of your link and [/YouTube] after your link. What you did was to paste the URL which was correct, but you clicked the YouTube button before highlighting the text first.

I certainly do remember Kiya, you so wanted a copy for your Mum & Dad and I spent ages making you a copy. :lol: This one is a short video I put together using some clips from the film and if you watch it all the way through you may get a surprise near the end. ;)

Gotcha on that Keefy, so in future we do not use the embeded code, instead we copy the Url at the top of the page that is playing the YouTube video, then paste that Url into our new post, then highlight the Url text, then click the YouTube button on the message menu bar?

[youtube][/youtube]

Well that seems to work easiley enough, much easier, cheers mate.

If members roll their mouse button over a BBCode button (available when posting) there is a tip on how to use the BBCode button in a box below the BBcode buttons.

There was a problem with this BBcode if anyone used the embed code, so ive just made it simple now, all you have to do is copy the URL (link) from the address bar from a youtube video your watching on the youtube page, paste it into your post, hightlight the link and press the YouTube BBcode button.

Keefy, as this may be relevant to others, what is the exact procedure for adding a YouTube video link?
I did the usual and copied across the smallest size embedded link and pasted it into my post, but this did not play in the preview pane. I then noticed the button for YouTube at the top, so I highlighted the original embedded link and clicked the YouTube button, this put the [YouTube] and [/YouTube] brackets at the start and finish of the text string, but they still do not play in preview, any suggestions?
